Touchdown Bangkok!

We’ve Arrived

Following a seemingly endless journey from Dublin we’ve finally arrived.

Our journey here was so uneventful that until just 250 miles from Bangkok I was sitting on our Qatar Airways 777 wondering what the hell I’d write for my first blog entry.

It was just perfect…no scary moments, no delays (in fact our first flight was early!) and not even really a hint of turbulence but then excitement struck!  An event on board that dragged my attention away from the 200 + channels of muck that I’d being staring at since London which included several attempts at watching Transformers 2.  Someone had fainted or got a heart attack or something just 8 rows away and suddenly there was panic. PA announcements for a doctor on board were soon followed by three ‘highly trained’ Qatar cabin crew each armed with an oversized cylinder of oxygen.  The panic lasted about 30 minutes, then the guy got up and walked about the cabin for a while –  clearly not a heart attack.

Back to the boredom of Transformers 2 which by the way I’d tried to watch for the past 10 hours and stopped several times because it is such a bad movie but then I was determined to get through the almost 3 hour charade of talking machines and hot chicks.

The hotel is great by the way.  Very authentic family run place.  I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that I’ve just had the best meal of my life for under a euro.  Chicken, mushroom and oyster sauce with steamed rice and 8 times cheaper than at home.

I never did finish watching Transformers…I won’t lose sleep over it.
